Band Bio

By tomachi

EASY is a tidal wave of sound that continues to collect re-arrange and re-unite music and soul. The charging power of the iconic Grey Lynn band of brothers is to absorb and reclaim live music’s spirit.

Maia Rata (Scribe, PMoney, 4 Corners) fronts EASY with his soulful vocals and Rock ‘n Roll energy, while Paaka Davis (Batucada Sound Machine) stands beside the hearty lead singer and gives the group edge and bad boy appeal. Behind these charismatic vocalists lies an ocean of talent. Tom Atkinson (from One Million Dollars Fame) holds down the beat on the drums. Jared Greenwood’s talent on the gat has kept the sounds flowing since EASY’s birth during the Poetry and Motion sessions at The Rising Sun. From the brass band training of trombonist Rob Simpson through to the phat rolling hill riffs of bass player Red Langton – EASY does it all.

Formed in 2004 out of the creative womb of New Zealand that is Grey Lynn, Auckland. The group has been mixing it up through different stages and phases of both music and life. Brand new members grand master of funk keys Dillon Riester and lead guru guitarist Windon Bradfield finish off the hearty roster.

Mixing enriched and classic flavors like soul, reggae, rock, hip hop and funk to form a distinctly New Zealand taste. EASY is a stellar line up of multi-talented and musically disciplined bros, who believe in the spiritual revival that occurs after a bloody good boogie.

2011 will see Easy release their debut album. Recorded at Auckland’s Hum Audio studio under the guidance of producer Nate Judd. This body of songs will be sure to take you on an epic genre inspired joy ride. The ones your parents had the delight of experiencing but never remembered.

But you could have easily heard them before – EASY have performed more than 50 gigs throughout the upper North Island.
